Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized for her high-quality performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes and awards, among them an Oscar for her movie Piano. In her early years her acclaimed actress started playing on stage for a number of Broadway or Off-Broadway productions. From her early years she's always been enthusiastic about acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. She became deaf in one ear due to the mumps virus, however she did not permit this to deter her desire to be an actor. When she was a teenager she studied drama, before moving into New York City. Hunter was stuck in the elevator of playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They collaborated to create Broadway Crimes of the Heart that marked the debut of Hunter on Broadway. She relocated into Los Angeles and tried to find film parts. For Swing Shift, she landed an appearance as a supporting character. Her career spans more than 30 years, and she's been featured in a variety of TV films or series, as well as films. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame star as well as a winner of the Women in Film Lucy Award.
